August is shaping up to be another great month of hockey. Looking forward we have some new events for your calendar, as we start to look at the end of the season. We have certainly had some fun in the last month. We have had state player selection success, Commonwealth Games success. There was even a special Derby game cake for the 6-8 boys!
We have more information about the Goldstix Carnival at the Busselton Stadium on 28th August and we are starting to plan our summer hockey competition. We value your thoughts on this and if you are keen to play please respond to our quick questions below, that will really help us with planning.
We are constantly updating our website - here is the link to Board and Committee members. So you know what we look like! If you have ideas or suggestions and you want to discuss them, find one of us at training, we love to here new ideas that will shape our club.
Cilla has been our awesome Treasurer for the allocated time (as per our club rules). We just want to put the idea out there to you all, that we will be looking for a new Club Treasurer soon (nominated at the AGM). If you are a book keeper / accountant or have a financial background, keen to get involved in this " off-the- pitch" role, please email Cilla or chat to anyone on the board or committee - soon!

Hannah, pictured here with her role model, recently retired Hockeyroos goalie Rachael Lynch.
A fellow goalie who represented the state team while in primary school.
Hannah has been playing with the juniors, and even trying her hand at a couple of senior women's games this season. She has also been attending the goalie sessions at the Busselton pitch. Following in Rachael's footsteps... Hannah will surely be chasing Rachaels numbers of over 230 games, 2 time Olympian, 3 Commonwealth games, 2 World cups and a whole lot of inspiration.
Perth Club Championship
11/12s mixed team representing Busselton. It was fantastic to have local MRHC players Tom, Kai, Helena, Olivia, Eliza & Oscar on the field together. They came 5th overall.

Magic and Lightning
Normally hockey is called off when there is lightning, not the case with our 3-5 teams! Team "Magic" and Team "Lightning played one another. A great exhibition of sportsmanship and friendship.

Thanks to Mark ‘Harro’ Harrison, I first joined the Margaret River Hockey Club way back in 1988. While I had a 24 year hiatus in the middle there to pursue ‘life’, I’ve been back now for nearly 5 years and without a doubt, Margies is the best hockey club in the world!
The people we have in this club are what make it special. We are blessed to have them and the effort they put in to keep us going is genuinely admirable. I love playing hockey - the camaraderie, the sportspersonship, the characters around the club, not to mention it’s a great way to stay fit - the game holds a very special place in my heart and I’m proud to be a member of our great club.
Another of my passions is performing arts! I am also a member of the Margaret River Theatre Group (MRTG) and am delighted to make a grand announcement!
ROLL UP, ROLL UP - THE CIRCUS IS IN TOWN! The MRTG bring to the stage our much anticipated 2022 pantomime! Goldilocks and the Three Bears! Four shows, three days - September 9th, 10th, 11th. Along with Alice from the Women's team, Mark (evil villain and lesser half of Daisy from the Women's team) and the rest of our theatrical troupe will be putting on a rib-tickling performance for the community. We have been rehearsing for well over a year now (no thanks to a certain *cough* bump in the road) and this year’s production is sure to be our best yet. It will truly be an event to remember!
