This month's last few words are from ...
Braedon Howes...
Son of Kenny Howes, past player
This Saturday, it's the annual memorial match for my Dad and Stuart "Scar" Campbell and Wes Battese. It's when our families catch up with the Margaret River players past and present.
This year, myself and Nicole (Batesse) got more involved in the planning of the day. As time goes by, it means a lot to us to get together at this event. Through our meetings of planning, we realised how much other club members have on their plates, with anxiety, depression, stress. Mental health means a lot of different things to different people.
So from that chat, this event (that was called "Scarred For Life" ) got a name change. We decided to call it "Stronger Together". We do need to be there for each other and this is a good event to be able to do that.
It means a lot to us to play and catch up with old friends, players that new Dad, Scar and Wes. It's also a good time to watch and enjoy playing hockey, the game that unites us all.
So come and join us on Saturday, we are fundraising for a great mental health program for our youngsters (Zero2hero).
Help is around.
See you soon
